Middle Level Social Studies Option

The Middle Level (ML) Social Studies option in the Elementary & Early Childhood Education (EECE) program is designed to support teacher candidates to teach social studies to children in fourth grade and continuing into the eighth grade. The ML Social Studies option is informed by guidelines recommended by the National Council for the Social Studies. The ML Social Studies option also uses the Penn State Teacher Education Performance Framework to guide the instruction and learning within the EECE ML social studies courses.
