HI ED 490: Professional Seminar Exploration of Careers in Higher Education
HI ED 504: Research and Assessment in Student Affairs (for residential students)
HI ED 545: Foundation of Higher Education and Student Affairs in the U.S.
HI ED 595: Internship in Higher Education (optional, but recommended for students without work experience in Higher Education)
HI ED 596: Independent Studies (Capstone course)
HI ED 801: Foundations of Institutional Research (for online students)

Emphasis Areas (9 credits)

Within the Professional Seminar course (HI ED 490) and in consultation with your adviser, you will select three courses in your chosen area of emphasis. We provide below some of the most common choices within the particular emphasis areas. Students are not restricted to the courses listed below. Students can choose alternative courses as long as they create a coherent set of coursework related to their area of emphasis. Certain courses (such as Curricula in Higher Education or Legal Issues in Higher Education and Student Affairs) can fit multiple areas of emphasis.
