Dr. Bill Anderson is the Director, Distance Learning at the University of Otago, New Zealand. He was previously employed at Massey University teaching and researching in the area of distance education and elearning. His current research interests include exploration of the issue of distance student retention in various elearning contexts, and the nature of full-time tertiary distance study experience. Bill worked with Prof. Michael Moore to co-edit the first edition of the Handbook of Distance Education which won the 2003 Charles A. Wedemeyer Award from UCEA. From 2008 – 2010, Bill served as President of the Distance Education Association of New Zealand and continues to serve as a member of the DEANZ Executive Committee.
