Alumni Invited Back for Traditional Reunion Weekend
Make plans now to come to Penn State to attend the Traditional Reunion Weekend on June 4-7, 2009.
According to the Alumni Association Web site, "this year, reunions are planned for Penn State graduates from the Classes of 1964, 1959, and Pioneers (classes of 1958 and earlier). Alumni will have the opportunity to revisit campus, attend class dinners and receptions, and meet other alumni. Members of the Class of 1959—this year's new class of Penn State Pioneers will receive their Pioneer Medallions. If you are a graduate from any of these classes, don’t miss this wonderful celebration in your honor."
The College of Education has planned a special event as part of the weekend activities, and all alumni, regardless of graduation year are welcome to attend. On June 5 from 1:30-2:30 in 124 CEDAR Building, Karla M. Schmit, education and behavioral sciences librarian, and assistant director of the Pennsylvania Center for the Book , will present “Trivia Time with Pennsylvania's Literary and Cultural Heritage Map.”
Can you name a Pennsylvania birthplace of royalty? How about Pennsylvania's state toy? Do you know the name of the Chicago crime boss who served time in two Pennsylvania prisons? You can learn the answers to these questions, and more through the Pennsylvania Center for the Book's (PACTB) Literary and Cultural Heritage Map. This interactive map is a treasure trove of over 1000 biographies of writers, musicians, actors, athletes, military figures and others in each of the 67 counties in the Commonwealth. The map also includes feature articles, video and audio clips on places, events, and inventions in 24 counties.
