Penn State Alumni are Honored at the Celebration of Teaching

Penn State College of Education alumni were recently honored as outstanding educators by the Teacher Excellence Center.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Penn State College of Education alumni were recently honored as outstanding educators by the Teacher Excellence Center. Over 1,000 educators, administrators, and community members gathered at the fourth annual Celebration of Teaching in recognition of 100 outstanding educators from a variety of different backgrounds.

The 100 honorees included five alumni of the College of Education: Kathleen Dunmyre ’72 SEC ED, Michelle Micija ’91 SEC ED, William Vitori ‘73 SEC ED, Anne Haught ‘73 EK ED, and Matthew Schenle ‘95 EK ED.

The Teacher Excellence Center’s mission is to foster exemplary teaching by providing professional development to teachers and recognizing southwestern Pennsylvania’s best K–12 educators. The Center encourages teachers to strive for this same dedication to their students and educational communities.
