Lee Upcraft and Susan Rankin Win ACPA Awards

upcraft.jpgUNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Two members of the College's Department of Education Policy Studies were recently honored by the American College Personnel Association at its annual meeting in Atlanta.

M. Lee Upcraft, affiliate professor emeritus of higher education, assistant vice president emeritus for student affairs, and research associate in the Center for the Study of Higher Education, received the 2008 Contribution to Knowledge Award. The award recognizes a member of the profession for outstanding contributions to the body of knowledge in the field of college student affairs. Upcraft was honored as the author and editor of over 130 publications in the fields of higher education and student affairs.

Rankin, assistant professor of education in the College Student Affairs program and research associate in the Center for the Study of Higher Education, received the Voice of Inclusion Medallion. The award recognizes individuals and their exemplary campus-based programs in the field of higher education and student affairs that have in some way contributed to making their campus communities a welcoming environment for all. Rankin was chosen for her work in addressing assessed needs in the areas of multiculturalism and diversity.
