First-year Students Explore Education in Seminar

Anne Whitney, associate professor of education, taught a first-year seminar that allowed first-year students to explore education as a career.

A faculty member in the College of Education, Associate Professor Anne Whitney, taught a first first-year seminar that introduced education to first-year students and allowed them to explore the career. The seminar drew upon research, literature and individuals' experiences as participants pursued the answers to the questions "Am I called to teach?" and "What does it mean to be called into a career in education?" To help guide the first-year students, three current advanced College of Education students visited the class to speak about their experiences, the pathway to their present role as well as advice for those who choose to pursue education as a career.
