Postbaccalaureate Certification in K–12 World Languages
Students wishing to pursue initial certification (grades K–12) as a teacher of a World Language (French, German, Latin, Russian, or Spanish) can do so by fulfilling the requirements of our undergraduate certification program as a postbaccalaureate student. The time required to complete this program varies depending on the student’s undergraduate preparation, usually ranging between four and six semesters of full-time study. In addition, students will be expected to participate in a study-abroad program to develop proficiency in their language of specialization as well as their knowledge of the target culture (unless they already have a comparable immersion experience in their specialty language). Students in the certification program also participate in EDUCATE, our notebook computer requirement, as described at the EDUCATE page.
