While at Penn State, Marie was a member of the Schreyer Honors College and spent time in Germany as a Fulbright Scholar. She served as an intern at the PA Center for the Book, volunteering as a judge for their "Letters About Literacy" project. Marie was also the recipient of the College of Education's Alumni Society Fall 2011 Outstanding Student Teaching award.
