Since 1979, Susan Martin has been involved in one way or another with Federal Programs, primarily Title I. She has taught and worked with classroom teachers and administration in the elementary schools from kindergarten through sixth grade. Her focus has always been on professional development and instructional support to encourage and challenge children to reach their potential in their learning experiences.class As a certified elementary teacher, reading specialist, Reading Recovery teacher, and holding certifications also as reading supervisor and elementary principal, she has remained active in local reading councils (Lancaster Lebanon Reading Council and South Central Reading Council), the Keystone State Reading Association and International Reading Association.
Susan serves on the executive committee of the PA Association of Federal Program Coordinators and has worked directly with the Division of Federal Programs at PDE as the chair of the Assessment Advisory Committee. Her active involvement in the local chapter of Phi Delta Kappa has given Susan opportunities to work in the positions of Membership Vice President and Foundations Chair with aspiring and dedicated teachers and administrators in the organizational framework devoted to service, leadership and research. She is also a member of PASCD/ASCD and NCTE.
