Science Education - Undergraduate
The Secondary Education (SECED) major with a Science Education (SCIED) option helps students prepare to become science teachers for grades 7-12 and and leads to a bachelor of science (B.S.) in Secondary Education. There are multiple option areas to choose from in the SCIED program:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Earth & Space Science
- Environmental Education
- General Science
- Physics
Major Requirements
The SCIED program is a four-year undergraduate degree that requires 126 credits* and leads to a bachelor of science (B.S.) in Secondary Education.
SCIED students typically take general education courses and meet Entrance to Major (ETM) requirements during their first two years and apply to the program during their 4th semester. The program also features approved courses that help meet all requirements of the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
The program helps students meet all of the common certification requirements for Biology, Chemistry, Earth & Space Science, Environmental Education, General Science, and Physics.
Students can pursue their degree in other non-traditional ways.
