Biography
My primary role in the Learning and Performance Systems Department is as the Program Coordinator for Learning, Design, and Technology Online Programs, where I coordinate the efforts of my faculty and staff colleagues with the delivery support provided by Penn State World Campus. In addition to program administration duties I am deeply involved with program and course development, and I recruit, advise, and teach our students.
My scholarly interests include online program administration, educational systems design, the integration of technology into learning environments, the advisement of adolescents, and adolescent motivation to learn. I'm particularly keen on constructivist approaches to learning, especially in nonformal (volitional and structured) and informal (volitional and unstructured) learning environments.
Service to youth, community, and environment are important to me. In Central Pennsylvania I am a member of the training committee for the Juniata Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America. Additionally, at the national and international level, I served as the Chief of Staff for Program for the planning team of the 24th World Scout Jamboree that was hosted in West Virginia in July-August, 2019. The World Scout Jamboree hosted 45,000 Scouts and Scouters from 120 countries, and my team and I coordinated and synchronized the nearly 5,000 volunteers from around the world who committed to serve on the program staff for the event.
I am originally from Albion, New York, and I have lived and worked in educational program design and administration in Malvern, Pennsylvania, Columbus, Ohio, Casper, Wyoming, and now University Park, Pennsylvania.
