Multicultural Education Student Association (M.E.S.A.)
Mission Statement:
Our mission is to create an inclusive community for underrepresented students in the College of Education. We aim to provide them with a sense of community through engagement of a variety of activities which promotes a feeling of empowerment. We also want to help our fellow members and peers establish their identity throughout their college career. Finally, we aim to equip students with a firm network which will provide them with the necessary tools to succeed.
Vision:
Our vision is to expand the community of the College of Education through the recruitment and retention of traditionally underrepresented students and foster an environment where students can thrive academically, emotionally, and socially.
Value Statements:
EMPOWER – Empowering students through activities that include pride, leadership, independence, noteworthiness, knowledge which will stride for successful future educators.
ESTABLISH – Establish programs and initiatives to support the academic achievement and emotional wellbeing of traditionally underrepresented students.
EQUIP – Equip students with the tools necessary for success in the college of education by offering opportunities for mentorship, tutoring, professional development, and advising.
ENGAGE - Engage traditionally underrepresented students in the College of Education through outreach, panel discussions, and peer mentoring to ensure retention.
