An article acknowledging College of Education students for their accomplishments

Beth Clark

Beth Clark, doctoral student in the Higher Education program, received the Eastern Region APPA Annual Scholarship in October 2009. The scholarship, in the amount of $2,245, is awarded for use toward the tuition and expenses of the APPA Institute for Facilities Management, which Clark will attend in January 2010 in Indian Wells, Calif.

Clark is slated to graduate from the Institute at the session in January for having demonstrated knowledge and competency in the program's four core areas—general administration and management; maintenance and operations; energy and utilities; and planning, design, and construction.

APPA, formerly the Association of Physical Plant Administrators, is an international association dedicated to maintaining, protecting, and promoting the quality of educational facilities. APPA represents more than 1,500 learning institutions serving over 4,700 individuals.

Wil Del Pilar

Wil Del Pilar, doctoral candidate in the Higher Education program, has been selected by the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) as an AAHHE Graduate Student Fellow. He will be acknowledged during the 2010 AAHHE National Conference in March 2010 in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Fellowship recipients are selected based on demonstration of academic potential through future career goals and past experiences, and for an aspiration to enter the professoriate and/or student affairs in higher education.
