Monk receives 2018 Educational Excellence Award

The Pennsylvania Principals Association has honored David H. Monk, dean of the College of Education and professor of educational administration, with its 2018 Educational Excellence Award.

The Pennsylvania Principals Association has honored David H. Monk, dean of the College of Education and professor of educational administration, with its 2018 Educational Excellence Award. The association's most prestigious award is given to a person who has been a "friend of public education" and who has made significant contributions to the attainment of educational excellence in the commonwealth's elementary and secondary schools.

"Dean Monk has provided extraordinary leadership and encouragement to building principals and other educational leaders during his tenure at Penn State," said Paul M. Healey, executive director of the Pennsylvania Principals Association.

"He has developed exemplary programs that lead to certification for aspiring principals. Additionally, Dean Monk and the Penn State College of Education have demonstrated outstanding support for relevant professional development activities for today's educational leaders."

The association is the only professional organization in Pennsylvania dedicated to the support and well-being of school administrators with a special emphasis on elementary, middle and high school principals.
