UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Talat Azhar ‘09 Ph.D. has joined the College of Education as outreach coordinator for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program. She also is serving as an affiliate faculty member in the College’s Education Theory and Policy program.

Prior to joining the College, Azhar worked with Penn State Outreach for 12 years as senior market research associate. She received her doctoral degree from Penn State in Education Theory and Policy and Comparative and International Education. The focus of her research is on education of women in developing countries. Azhar also holds an MBA from Smeal College and an MArch from the College of Arts and Architecture at Penn State.

Azhar is a longtime resident of State College and is actively involved in the local community. She is president of the State College branch of the American Association of University Women, serves on the Youth Aid Panel, and volunteers for Housing Transitions. Her two children graduated from college last year, and her husband teaches at Penn State.

“Talat is going to make a great addition to our team and I know the Humphrey Fellows will gain a lot from working with her,” said Leila Bradaschia, director of International Programs in the College of Education.
