College of Education Response to the NCTQ Report
In our review of the NCTQ report on teacher preparation programs, we have found numerous inconsistencies and inaccuracies. We are not surprised by this result given the report’s heavy reliance on questionable measures and methods for collecting data. NCTQ itself has acknowledged that its report contains errors but refused to provide the institutions it reviewed with a pre-publication opportunity to provide corrective feedback. We see the report as a missed opportunity to conduct a thorough and impartial review of teacher preparation and caution readers about relying on the conclusions that are drawn.
