UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Join us for the second annual College of Education Cycle-thon, set for Sunday morning, April 22.

Last year's starting line was a flurry of activity.

This fun, relaxed event begins at Sunset Park (just north of campus) and takes riders along a scenic ten-mile loop, winding through campus and beyond. All intersections are patrolled for optimum safety.

Organizers of Cycle-thon 2007 are hoping for optimum participation by members of our College, alumni, and the community. The entry fee is $27 for adults and $17 for children under 18. Your entire family can participate for $50. Special activities for children are being planned.

Registration deadline is April 10. Check out the complete registration details at the Cycle-thon Web site.

Some of last year's riders pause at the halfway point.

Cycle-thon benefits SCOPE (Summer College Opportunity Program in Education), which each summer brings high school students from underrepresented groups to the University Park campus to promote and encourage careers in education.

To help raise funds for SCOPE, cyclists are encouraged to seek sponsorship from family and friends.

Anyone wishing to make a separate donation to SCOPE may do so through the University’s Development Web site. To designate SCOPE as the beneficiary of your gift, please enter “XCEMP-SCOPE” in the comment section.

Planning for Cycle-thon 2007 is a joint effort between the Dean’s Student Advisory Forum, the Student Pennsylvania State Education Association, the Education Student Council, and the College of Education Faculty Council.
