Update from the Development Office

Article updating Development Office fund-raising efforts and upcoming events

by Susan Fleck (November 2007)

The College of Education’s Office of Development and Alumni Relations is pleased to update our fund-raising efforts and report on some upcoming events and activities.

We are thrilled to report that commitments during the “Investing in People” initiative, which concluded June 30, 2007, surpassed the College’s $10 million goal.  Currently, we are in the early stages of the “For the Future” Campaign and have secured over $2.8 million towards an $18 million goal.

The staff of the Advancement Office has been recruiting volunteer leadership to serve as members of the Dean’s Development Council during the “For the Future” Campaign. In the coming months, you will learn more about the volunteers who have agreed to serve the College in this capacity, and will hopefully have the opportunity to meet them in the coming year. In addition, the College’s case for support, or case statement, is being drafted. This will be shared with donors, faculty, and staff.

Early planning has begun for the third annual Cyclethon event to be held next April. You can look forward to an exciting new route—keep your fingers crossed for a sunny Sunday morning, similar to last year’s event.

Although the Office of Development and Alumni Relations will be closed during the University's holiday break, all end-of-year gifts postmarked and checks dated no later than Dec. 31 will be credited as gifts made for the 2007 tax year. Thank you for your support!
