Maureen Higgins Named Summer 2007 Penn State College of Education Student Marshal

Higgins, an Elementary and Kindergarten Education major, was honored at commencement ceremonies for the 2007 summer session.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Maureen E. Higgins, an Elementary and Kindergarten Education major in Penn State’s College of Education, has been named student marshal for the 2007 summer session.

Higgins completed her student teaching during the Spring 2007 semester in a fifth-grade classroom at Gray’s Woods Elementary School in State College, Pa. Her student teaching supervisor was Ms. Barbara Hartle, and her teacher mentor was Mr. Joseph Shirk.

Throughout her time at Penn State, Higgins was the recipient of numerous honors and awards. She was a National Merit Finalist and recipient of the Siemens Medical Solutions Merit Scholarship. Higgins was awarded Dean’s List honors every semester. In addition, she is a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars.

Higgins has selected Dr. Daniel Thompson to escort her as the College’s faculty marshal.
