New Scholarship for Education Students

One Laurel Haven Endowment Scholarship for $960 will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student in the College of Education or the College of Agriculture who has demonstrated a commitment to conservation education.

During the 2013-14 academic year, one Laurel Haven Endowment Scholarship for $960 will be awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student who has demonstrated a commitment to conservation education. Conservation education involves formal and/or non-formal education in the stewardship and management of renewable natural resources.

Eligible students must have engaged in conservation education or be currently engaged in conservation education through a community outreach program and enrolled at Penn State in one of the two following preference groups:

  • Enrolled in School of Forest Resources in the College of Agricultural Sciences
  • Full-time undergraduate or graduate student for Fall/Spring 2013-14
  • Engaged in or previously engaged in, and still interested in, conservation education
  • Special consideration will be given to students engaged in conservation education programs at the University’s Laurel Haven Conservation Education Center

or

  • Enrolled in the College of Education with a major in elementary or secondary education and an interest in environmental education or enrolled in the College of Agricultural Sciences with an option in Environmental Science
  • Full-time undergraduate or graduate student for Fall/Spring 2013-14
  • Engaged in or previously engaged in, and still interested in, conservation education

 

Deadline for this application is October 31, 2013.

Students interested in applying must complete and return the application form, submitting with it an advising transcript and a one-page essay describing your “well-defined” interest in conservation education.
