Biography
Dr. Roderick Lee is an Associate Professor of Information Systems in the School of Business Administration at Penn State Harrisburg. Additionally, he holds a courtesy appointment in the Higher Education program in the College of Education at Penn State University Park.
He received his Ph.D. in Information Sciences and Technology focused on human-computer interaction, and management and organization from Penn State University Park. In addition, he received an MBA and an MS in Information Systems from Penn State Harrisburg.
Dr. Lee is currently engaged in interdisciplinary research projects funded by the National Science Foundation and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute that focuses on three streams: (1) persistence, retention, and career exploration of historically underrepresented and underserved groups in computing education; (2) inclusive and culturally relevant curricular and pedagogical innovations in STEM; and (3) inclusive and equitable STEM learning environments.
He has leveraged his scholarship to inform policy and practice as a member of the Select Penn State Presidential Commission on Racism, Bias, and Community Safety, American Talent Initiative (ATI) and Powered by Publics (PxP) Steering Committee, Joint Curricular Task Force on Social and Racial Justice, Student Success Priority Co-Lead for a special project for the Office of the President on DEIB at Penn State, The PhD Project Advisory Council, and the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania Board of Directors. His career-long commitment to equity and inclusion was recognized in 2021 when he was received the Greater Harrisburg Area NAACP President’s Award.
