Professional Development Workshops

Center for Science and the Schools – Bridging Research and Education in STEM

CSATS partners with science and engineering researchers on the broader impacts components of research grant proposals. We design, develop and implement many outreach programs and workshops for K-16 education to promote the integration of science and engineering practices into the classroom environment.

We offer a variety of workshops for educators and student opportunities throughout the academic year and the summer. Please check out our programs at www.csats.psu.edu

Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization

The Center for Nanotechnology Education and Utilization of Penn State's College of Engineering offers workshops that explore the world of nanotechnology several times per year. High school and college educators, administrators, guidance counselors and career counselors can learn about the growing applications of nanotechnology in many industries including the biotechnology, MEMS, optoelectronics, chemical, and non-electronics industries. The fundamentals of nanofabrication processes and tools are covered and practiced through processing labs in the class 10 cleanrooms of the Penn State Nanofabrication Facility. Each workshop runs three days with the time broken down into daily morning lectures by nationally recognized Penn State researchers and engineering staff, and afternoon lab sessions in nanofabrication. Previous knowledge of micro or nanotechnologies is not required.
