Hansol Woo
Alumni, 2021 Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Comparative and International Education
Hansol Woo received a Dual Title Ph.D. in 2021 from the Educational Leadership program & the Comparative and International Education program at the Pennsylvania State University. He uses both quantitative and qualitative methods to understand teacher leadership as an equitable leadership practice that improves student learning outcomes in high-poverty schools.
Dr. Woo is joining the the Samsung Economic Research Institute as a senior researcher, initiating corporate social responsibility programs in education sector to support socioeconomically disadvantaged students and schools in Korea as well as those in developing countries.

Chi Nguyen
Alumni, 2020 Ph.D. in Educational Leadership, Comparative and International Education
Chi Nguyen received a Dual Title Ph.D. in 2020 from the Educational Leadership program & the Comparative and International Education program at the Pennsylvania State University. She applies a social justice-drive research agenda to the exploration of issues related to social justice leadership.
Dr. Nguyen will joining the faculty at the University of Arizona in Fall 2021 as an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership and Policy.

Erin McHenry-Sorber
Alumni, 2011 Ph.D. in Educational Leadership
Erin McHenry-Sorber received a Ph.D. in 2011 from the Educational Leadership program at the Pennsylvania State University. Her dissertation title was Competing Values, Competing Narratives: Rural School-Community Conflict in Dual Arenas. Her research focuses on the internal and external structures and contexts influencing rural schools and communities, as well as on their relationships.
Dr. McHenry-Sorber is Assistant Professor and Coordinator, Higher Education Administration Program in the West Virginia University College of Education and Human Services.

Scott Nusom
Alumni, 2016 M.Ed in Educational Leadership
Scott Nusom received his MEd in Educational Leadership from the Pennsylvania State University in 2016. He is a major in the United States Army, currently serving in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Scott’s professional interests are organizational culture, leader development, and organizational change. His master’s thesis is titled Committed to Service: Why Retiring Military Officers Can Succeed in the School Leadership Profession.
Scott chose the MEd program at Penn State to gain a more holistic understanding of leadership outside of the Army. Scott is passionate about education and wants to serve as a school leader or work with veterans in higher education once he completes his military service.
