Penn State University Park
Full time
REQ_0000040306
JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
The College of Education at The Pennsylvania State University is committed to transforming into an equity-driven, anti-racist college dedicated to generating positive social change by developing the next generation of educational scholars and practitioners (the current strategic plan: http://ed.psu.edu/strategic-plan-2021-2025 ). To date, the College’s commitment to its values, as detailed through the strategic plan, has been enacted through a variety of initiatives, including the hiring of a cohort of scholars committed to anti-oppressive research and praxis across programs, funding a post-doctoral scholar in equity pedagogy, sustained professional development for College leadership on anti-racist principles, the founding of a Social Justice in Education minor, and establishing an equity fellowship for faculty seeking to contribute to and advance the College’s strategic plan innovatively. To maintain this energy and extend these efforts, the College of Education seeks applicants for an Associate Dean for Access, Equity, and Inclusion who will coordinate, provide support for, and enhance ongoing efforts to enact the goals of our strategic plan. This will require fostering a culture that adeptly supports and leverages differences within the College community while building capacity and strength around a shared vision for equity and its importance in transforming education.
Appointment Conditions
This full-time 48-week appointment will report to the Dean of the College of Education and work collaboratively as a leadership team member. The appointment as Associate Dean will include a tenured faculty appointment in an appropriate department of the College. The intended start date is the Fall 2023 semester. The University offers a competitive benefits package that includes excellent healthcare and tuition benefits for employees and their families, generous retirement benefits, a wide variety of professional development opportunities, supportive work and family benefits, a wealth of health and wellness programs and resources, and much more. The College of Education is committed to supporting the work-life balance of its faculty members. Penn State has a strong commitment to the diversity of its workforce, and we encourage applications from individuals in historically underrepresented groups.

The successful candidate will work as a consequential member of the College’s leadership team to help reimagine and realize education through equity and anti-racist lenses, as outlined in our strategic plan. Specific responsibilities include the following:
