Biography

Matthew T. McCrudden is a Professor of Education at Penn State. He has an MA in cognition, learning, and development from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (2001) and a Ph.D. in learning and technology from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (2005).

 

He was an Assistant Professor at the University of North Florida (2005–2008) and an Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer at Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand (2008–2018). He teaches courses in educational psychology and research methods.

 

He has published numerous articles on human cognition and learning. His research interests include how learner characteristics, instructional tasks, and materials are related to cognition and learning and mixed methods research.

 

He is currently an Associate Editor for the Journal of Educational Psychology, serves on the editorial board of six additional journals and is a governing board member of the Society for Text and Discourse.
