Biography

Stephanie Schroeder joined the Penn State faculty in 2018 after earning her doctorate in Curriculum, Teaching, and Teacher Education at the University of Florida. Before pursuing a career in academia, Stephanie was a middle and high school English and social studies teacher in central Florida and New York City. Her research interests include democratic and citizenship education, pre-service teacher education, media depictions of teachers and teaching, and education activism across various contexts. Her work is published in Gender & Education,Policy Futures in Education, and The New Educator. She has numerous book chapters on topics ranging from the Opt Out Movement to depictions of teachers on television. She regularly contributes blog posts to TeachingTolerance.org and presents her work at the annual meetings of the College and University Faculty Assembly of the National Council for the Social Studies, American Educational Research Association, and Association of Teacher Educators.
