Curriculum and Instruction: Science EducationBiography
Amy Voss Farris, Assistant Professor of Education, investigates the intersections of scientific modeling and computational literacies in elementary and middle grades classrooms. She seeks to understand how learners’ experiences in computational modeling can support their development of ideas and practices across STEM disciplines. Her recent work argues that understanding children’s computational thinking requires accounting for their computing work within the discursive, perspectival, material, and embodied experiences it is grounded in, rather than focusing on the production of computational abstractions as an isolated competency.
