Biography
Dr. Amber O’Shea is an Associate Professor of Rehabilitation and Human Services and Counselor Education at Penn State University. She holds a doctoral degree in Educational Psychology, a master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling, and a specialist degree in Education. Prior to her current role, she served as a research scientist in the College of Public Health at Temple University.
Dr. O’Shea’s research focuses on promoting healthy transitions, educational success, and community participation for individuals with disabilities. She has a specific interest in the experiences of college students with psychiatric disabilities, campus mental health, and the impact of support services. Her work explores how students with disabilities engage with campus resources, the effectiveness of counseling services, and broader strategies to support health, well-being, and academic success in higher education.
She currently teaches courses including Research in Counseling, Assessment in Rehabilitation, Disability Culture, and Case Management and Communication Skills. She is also the faculty advisor of the Occupational Therapy Club at University Park.
